The Virginia Beer Company

The Virginia Beer Company is a brewery + taproom + beer garden located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Chris Smith and Robby Willey, who met as students at the nearby College of William & Mary in 2004, co-founded the brewery in March 2016. Jonathan Newman, formerly a brewer at SweetWater Brewing in Atlanta, Georgia, serves as the Brewmaster.
The combination of a large-scale 30-bbl brewing system and a custom built 5-bbl pilot system allows for the production of both a series of flagship beers and a constantly changing mix of creative and experimental small-batch beers. Those include barrel-aged beers, hazy India Pale Ales, barrel-fermented Saisons, and craft lagers, among many other diverse styles.
Beers produced by The Virginia Beer Company have earned medals at competitions across the world, including the International Beer Cup in Japan, the European Beer Star Awards, and the Australian International Beer Awards. In addition to award-winning beer, the brewery has earned accolades for its environmental sustainability initiatives and its philanthropic involvement in the local Williamsburg community.
